The Jefferson cheer team concluded their season without placing at regionals on Oct. 25. This followed their successful two district competitions, scoring a record fifth place on Oct. 22 and sixth place at their first districts on Oct. 17.

“Regionals didn’t go that great,” sophomore Hasi Challa said. “We didn’t hit all of our stunts, but our competition on Saturday was better.”

Jefferson cheer competed at districts on Saturday Oct. 22, placing a record high of fifth place.

“I think we did better at districts on Saturday because we were a lot more focused,” Challa said. “But also, [regionals] was our last competition and on Saturday we knew we still had another one coming up.”

Their improvement at districts from past years was due to having more returning members, which was lacking in previous years due to COVID-19.

“A lot of people are returners or have to experience this year, so we have the skills from last year to do better this year,” Challa said. “Next year, we hope to place higher and that our coach comes back. We love her.”
