Top 9 of 2019: Meme Templates

9) Dragon Triplet

This is the comparison to end all comparisons, because as everyone knows, every single object in the history of existence is either the equivalent of a really cool dragon, or a really badly drawn one.

8) Me and the Boys

Of course, what is the point of a meme if you can’t actually share it with the boys themselves. This template represents the solidarity of the fact that even though we may make questionable decisions, we always have friends to make those questionable decisions with us.

7) Stonks

As our generation grows older, it makes sense that our memes should mature as well. This template represents our first steps into the adult world, the world of stocks and business, which are things we don’t actually know that much about, but at least they’re funny.

6) Winnie the pooh

An extension of the brain progression meme from 2018, this template argues on the finer points of our lives. Where the brain progression template is a measure of intelligence, the Winnie the Pooh template measures refinery and a higher level of thinking.

5) Say Sike Right Now

The fact that culture has evolved so that we can all emotionally relate to a Super Mario character is incredible. What is also incredible is the amount of human emotion that a blue piranha creeper can show, which is why this template was a defining part of 2019.

4) Mike Wazowski face

Sometimes, a face is all you need to express everything you need to say. And sometimes, Scully from Monsters, Inc.’s face is the perfect face to describe the absolute disappointment that life is.

3) Screaming Cat Lady

Here we have a representation of the greatest battle of all time. Two mortal enemies, face each other in either hysteria or apathy. The question is, is your side the screaming lady, or the defiant cat?

2) Surprised Pikachu

Easily one of the most recognizable meme templates of 2019, this meme exemplifies our need to express just how stupid we are. The feeling of knowing exactly what the consequences of your actions will be, but still doing them anyways and being surprised by the results is a very specific one, and this meme expresses it perfectly.

1) Aight Imma Head Out

This template has it all. And by ‘it all’, I mean Spongebob content. For as long as I can remember, each year brings a new Spongebob meme, and this year was no exception. What makes this meme the meme of the year is how well it shows that sometimes, all we really want to do is leave.
