Art student Zachary Ho won first place in the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Northeastern Regional Art Contest.
Ho, an Advanced Placement Art student, earned the highest score of the high school division VSBA Regional Art Competition with a digital photograph he called “Clinging.”
With the entry of “Clinging,” Ho represented the stress he was experiencing when the photo was taken.
“The piece was just an expression of all the stress I was feeling at the time. I felt like I was barely hanging on to the things going on and I think that people can relate to it,” Ho said.
Ho has also won the Silver Key Award for photography in the Regional Scholastic Art Awards Competition, and takes photographs for “Techniques.”
“I chose photography as my medium because that is what I am best at,” Ho said. Ho’s artwork fulfills the purpose of the VSBA Art Contest, to promote the talents of Virginia’s public school students.
