Almost 200 students gathered at the flagpole to celebrate Holi, an Indian festival, on April 19 during eighth period.  The event was hosted by Namaste in order to celebrate the national Indian tradition.

Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is where thousands of people celebrate Indian culture by throwing colored powders at each other.  In India, Holi is a way of celebrating the beginning of spring, and it helps bring Indian society together.  Holi is also for good luck.

“Holi was the best. It was a great way to end a hectic week, and I’m glad we got to expose people to Holi who have never done it before,” said freshman Ananya Suri.

Namaste’s goal was to expose people to the fun of the Holi celebration and teach them about Indian culture.  Namaste is now preparing and looking forward to their upcoming bhangra performance at J-day.
