Experimental Teaching

Emily Chen

Studies have found that deadlines and rigorous tests do little to help student success. Using this research, the start of the Challenge Success initiative at TJ encouraged teachers to promote academic growth rather than achievement. Since then, several teachers have started experimental classes in order to accomplish the goals. Starting with experimental computer science, these classes instead focus on projects rather than assessments. Now, a year later and with the start of an experimental research statistics program, teachers reflect on their classroom experiments.
