Representation Matters: African American History at TJ

Throughout February, communities come together to celebrate Black History Month. By educating ourselves and celebrating the achievements of African Americans, we recognize the central role they have played in U.S. history. However, recent calls-to-action such as the Black Lives Matter movement have highlighted a distinct lack of African American representation in our curriculum. Proponents of a newly proposed course seek to increase our awareness of Black history, reminding us why it is so crucial for it to be implemented at TJ.
