Freshmen Maaike Blindenbach and Katie Zechman build gingerbread houses.

Icing-coated graham crackers and festive candy littered desks, crowded by students enjoying their final period before winter break.

The German Honor Society hosted a gingerbread house making event during eighth period on Dec. 21 to raise funds for the club. Students not enrolled in German had to pay a $2 fee to attend.

Many students agreed that the event provided them an opportunity to spend time with their friends before the holidays.

“I haven’t done this since kindergarten. Building ginger bread houses gives me a chance to reminisce about my childhood,” freshman Victoria Yan said.

Freshmen Maaike Blindenbach and Katie Zechman were announced as winners for the most creative gingerbread house at the end of eighth period.
