Before the match, the Varsity and JV volleyball teams line up to thank the seniors players for their commitment and dedication throughout the season. Overall playing volleyball has been a very uplifting experience and I would definitely do it all over again,” senior captain Andra Velea said. Velea has played volleyball for Jefferson for all four years of highschool.

Jefferson’s Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Justice Wolves 3-2 at home on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Before the senior night match, parents, coaches, and fellow teammates recognized the contributions of the seniors on the team during a brief celebration.

The Colonials lost the first two sets, but recovered and won three consecutive sets to secure the victory. The fact that the comeback win occurred on Jefferson’s senior night made the evening more special for the seniors on the team.

“The support from the stands and our own like perseverance, pulled us through and we won three sets to two,” senior captain Andra Velea said. “It was an amazing experience and an amazing atmosphere.”

The Colonials fell behind in the third set by 11 points, but were able to recover and win the set 25-23. Velea attributed the team’s success in close games to the tight bond among players.

“We don’t have a small cliques in the team so we all really we work together and have great chemistry,” Velea said.

The Colonials will face the Wakefield Warriors on Thursday, Oct. 24 for the District Quarterfinals match, and are optimistic of their chances to win.

“We have progressed a lot as a team since the beginning of the season, and we’ve been on a winning streak for quite a bit now, so we’re feeling confident,” Velea said.
