Matilda tells the story of a young genius stuck with a kind teacher and oppressive principal, and TJTA’s production of the respective musical has been described as the biggest show the department has ever done. Directed by Mr. Reid, nearly 40 TJ kids across all 4 grades are involved in this massive project, spanning months of preparation and rehearsal.

This piece is about about how we live in a supposedly fair world, when really it is chocked full of prejudice. It discusses how we as people are still yet to admit that flaw. Cha was inspired by the Netflix miniseries "When They See Us" to write a poem that portrayed the ironic double standards of society.

"Although I know I wasnt able to depict a full picture regarding the social justice system... my hope was to be able to deliver the fact that what seems like a thing of the past still remains to this day, even though many are taught to think that we have become a completely different society from what we were just 50 or so years ago."

While Will Smith slapping Chris Rock made headlines, Troy Kotsur became the first deaf man to win an award for acting. Kotsur played Frank Rossi, in the CODA, a film “dedicated to the deaf community.” CODA follows Ruby Rossi, the only one that can hear in a deaf family, who has a passion for singing. At the Oscars, CODA also won the Best Picture.
