Jefferson celebrated its annual homecoming event l Jefferson celebrated its annual homecoming event last week. It still incorporated many of the usual elements such as MEX and pep rallies but with the COVID-19 restrictions.

"Homecoming was different from usual this year, but SGA did a really good job of hosting it and trying to maintain the same level of excitement,” sophomore Krisha Pahwa said. “As an extension of that, MEX was also really entertaining to watch and coordinate this year, seeing all the freshmen participate in the homecoming spirit and being able to talk with my friends again after a long period of virtual connections.”

Today, April 20th, TJ Broadcast took a closer look Today, April 20th, TJ Broadcast took a closer look itself - how a TJ Broadcast feature is made, the steps and hard work put into each morning announcements, and how all of this has changed as school has become virtual.

"When you first look at the morning announcements, it looks like it was really easy to make," freshman Hannah Bang said. "But it actually takes weeks of planning, a ton of teamwork, and hours of dedication."

The Jefferson Cheer team wrapped up their season l The Jefferson Cheer team wrapped up their season last week, cheering on the Colonials in the football game last Friday. The social-distanced cheer will be the last for some departing seniors and the first of many for the new freshmen.

“This season was unlike any other. Even with coronavirus in the mix, I'm glad we still got to form a tight knit community on the cheer team,” senior Molly Barron said. “Stunts were downgraded, timing changed, and there was a lot of uncertainty but our spirits stayed high, and I'm grateful for the chance I got to cheer with Jefferson one last time.”

Last Sunday, April 4th, tjTODAY took a closer look Last Sunday, April 4th, tjTODAY took a closer look at small businesses in the Jefferson community, how they have been impacted by the pandemic, and how they have grown and adapted to the challenges they've faced in the past year.

"This is like home for the kids," Afroza Khan, who runs The Family Daycare, said. "I think some parents feel better if they give their kids to a family daycare, rather than an institutional daycare."
