Freshmen and sophomores have been participating in an in-house roller skating unit for the past two weeks, in their gym classes.
The students get a choice of skating with the rented quads, which are four-wheeled skates, or regular inline skates. The purpose of this unit is to help the students with balance, coordination and motor skills.
Students have also been learning basic skating skills like starting, stopping, forward skating, backward skating and corner. Many even got to take part in various skating games such as relays, basketball, and floor hockey.
“I did ice skating when I was little. The first few days of roller skating were really shaky but now, I realize it’s just like skating on ice but on land” freshman Juliana Bain said. “I’m so happy we got the opportunity to do roller skating in school.”
