Tutors from the Writing Center held an eighth period session for SAT writing training and practice on March 4. With the upcoming March SAT this weekend, many juniors attended the session.

Seniors Michelle Wang and David Rice gave a PowerPoint presentation covering tips for the multiple-choice writing section on the SAT, the tips ranging from grammar rules to sentence structure.

After their presentation, the students attempted to answer some practice SAT questions, and the tutors went over the answers with them. The tutors also provided a link to find the presentation online.

Junior Comfort Sampong thought the session served as a confidence-booster for many.

“Almost everyone got their questions right. People know a more than they think they do,” she said. “I like how the tutors emphasized not the fancy names, but what they mean. When you just hear words like ‘faulty parallelism,’ it gets kind of overwhelming.”
