Freshman girls prepare Sadie Hawkins asking

Freshmen boys and girls gather outside the auditorium lobby during lunch on Wednesday, eager for the clock to hit 12 noon. Three freshmen girls take out paper with lyrics in preparation for their big asking.

On Jan. 30, freshman girls Sruthi Kodali, Christina Wei and Jeewoo Kim asked freshman boys Pranav Gulati and Nathan Chuwait to the annual Sadie Hawkins dance.

The boys were asked with the song, “Sadie Hawkins Dance.” The girls changed the lyrics to fit their situation, but the meaning remained the same.

“I thought singing would be a fun way to ask the boys since we know them well, and we’re all friends,” Wei said.

This year, the Sadie Hawkins dance is sponsored by the Class of 2015, who planned the soc-hop to take place after the double-header basketball game against Marshall High School on Feb. 8.

In addition to presale tickets that will be sold during lunch next week, the sophomore class is also selling candygrams in Room 129. One free candygram will be sold with the purchase of a ticket, and all candygrams will be delivered on Feb. 8.
