Techniques scores CSPA Crown

The yearbook staff works on assignments during eighth period.

It’s eighth period in Room 106, and 20 students are sitting around tables, noisily editing their page assignments.  They are all working on stories that will be in Jefferson’s 2012-2013 yearbook, Techniques.

Techniques was recently named a crown award winner by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, along with around 25 other yearbooks nationwide.  At the spring convention in March, they will either be awarded at the gold or silver level.

“Last year, I was a co-editor in chief, and getting a crown shows that everyone’s hard work has finally paid off,” said senior Priyal Gandhi.

This year, Gandhi is once again a co-editor in chief, along with seniors Lauren Revere and Kayuri Shah.

Apart from the crown award, there is more big news for the yearbook staff.  Techniques adviser and photojournalism teacher, Erinn Harris, is now a certified journalism educator.  She passed an exam given by the Journalism Educators Association to achieve this title.
