The Thomas Jefferson Swim and Dive Team (TJSD) cheers their way to victory on Friday at the Herndon Community Center.

Decked out from head to toe in pink, the members of Thomas Jefferson’s Swim and Dive Team (TJSD) prepared to beat South Lakes High School on Friday. Coming from both girls’ and boys’ team victories over Fairfax High School on Dec. 7, the swimmers looked prime to smash South Lakes and were also gearing up to defeat Marshall High School on Saturday.

Sophomore Andrew Seliskar, recently named the number one male swimming recruit in the Class of 2015 by collegeswimming.com, won the boys’ 500-yard freestyle and the boys’ 50-yard freestyle in dominating fashion. Seliskar was also a part of the victorious boys’ 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams. Junior Miles Oakley and senior Reese Frerichs also won events.

On the girls’ side, sophomore Carrie Heilbrun, senior Sarah Liu and freshman Mollie Passacantando had great swims, and the Jefferson girls swept the 100-yard backstroke. Sophomore Callan Monette and freshman Valentina Lohr went 1-2 in girls’ diving.

The teams also lined up to score a win over Marshall High School on Saturday. The Jefferson girls swept the 200-yard individual medley, while the Jefferson boys swept the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay.

The final score for the meet against South Lakes was 216-96 for the boys and 187-127 for the girls. The meet against Marshall came down to 210-105 for the boys and 199-116 for the girls.

With this weekend’s results, the boys remain undefeated with their overall record 4-0, while the girls are now 3-1.

“We swam really well and celebrated our double victory at IHOP,” senior captain Andrew Draganov said. “This season is looking good for both teams, and we are excited for the next few meets.”
