On Oct. 31, members of Spanish Honor Society (SHS) celebrated the Mexican holiday, El Dia de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead, in an effort to spread Hispanic culture and traditions. Although the name may sound spooky, the fiesta is nothing but fun.  On this auspicious day, the living visit their ancestors’ graves and pay respects to those who are gone.

Participants brought in various ethnic dishes to commemorate the holiday. El Dia de los Muertos is held on the first and second of November. However, the club honors Halloween and El Dia de los Muertos together during their party.

“It was a great cultural celebration with delicious food and phenomenal music.  I was very impressed with the job the officers did to put everything together I had a fabulous time,” said senior Sebastian Lerner, a member of SHS.
