Students show affection for Class of 2011 graduate Zachary Brunt
April 19, 2012
Hundreds of students decked out in bright orange and other neon colors gathered around the flagpole today to celebrate Class of 2011 graduate, Zachary Brunt. Brunt passed away yesterday at the J.W. Gibbs Laboratory on campus at Yale University. The Yale Police Department is currently conducting a full investigation. The cause of death is still undetermined.
Known for his wild hair, brightly-colored clothes and dance moves, Brunt’s death has prompted many people to post messages on Facebook. Senior Kate Gaziano created a Facebook event for April 19, titled “Wear (Neon) Orange or Other Neon Colors In Honor of Zach Brunt.” The group currently has over 1039 students and counting.
An announcement for the event has been posted on the Intranet, and students have also painted the rock outside Jefferson with the message, “We Love You, Zach” in addition to leaving flowers there.
Jefferson students are not the only ones participating in Brunt’s commemoration. Jefferson alumni from various colleges have organized memorial services at their respective campuses.
