Adam Sieminski, administrator of the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), visited Jefferson on Oct. 26 to talk to students about the importance and impact of energy sources on the United States.
Sieminski described the work the EIA was doing to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels, like coal and oil. He is currently working on another project to calculate the amount of different energy sources will be used by the year 2035.
“Our data shows, that by the year 2035, the U.S. will have reduced its reliance on fossil fuels and will have increased its use of renewable resources, like solar and wind energy,” Sieminski said.
Sieminski hopes that the changes predicted by the EIA will indeed come true, allowing the U.S. to take one more step closer to its goal of energy independence.
After the presentation, students were allowed to ask questions on the topic of energy dependence.
