Located in the middle of Manhattan, New York University is one of the best universities in the country. A true city school with no borders separating it from the streets of New York, students are guaranteed a unique experience if they attend the New York campus. With hundreds of student organizations ranging from Abs and Pizza and Rice and Chicken to Model United Nations and Greek life, there are unlimited opportunities for students at NYU, New York.
During the information session, the representative spoke about the three different campuses available for New York University students, which are NYU New York, NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai. While New York campus is the largest and the other two programs resemble the small size of liberal arts schools, they are all unique experiences within themselves given the wide range of opportunities provided within each one.
In addition, there are many colleges within NYU New York, including Liberal Studies, the College of Arts and Sciences, Leonard N. Stern School of Business and Tisch School of the Arts. While New York University does allow students to double major across colleges, the second major must be within the College of Arts and Sciences if they are in another college. However, since there is a vast amount of majors within the College of Arts and Sciences, students are often able to find a program for them.
The final part of the presentation was dedicated to talking about the experiences that New York University has to offer that many other schools do not. Due to the small faculty to student ratio of 10:1, there is a much closer relationship that the professors have with their students that other large schools could never offer. Students often get to know their teachers incredibly well, even to the point of spending dinner at their houses.
New York University, no matter if it is in Abu Dhabi, Shanghai or New York, is a one of a kind experience. While a massive school in terms of location and student body in New York, there is still the small school feel that many large schools don’t have. In addition, the programs of Shanghai and Abu Dhabi allow students to truly become world citizens in a diverse environment that no other college has to offer. Overall, if a student wants a big school with a small school feel or simply a liberal arts experience overseas, New York University is the place for you.
